Changeling Axar

Name: Axar
Race: Changeling, Mutant: Natural Power, Cybernetic Affinity, Survivor, Space Affinity
Alignment: Evil
Age: 19

Appearance:

Axar is unmistakably a Changeling, but one glance tells you he is not of the Cold Clan. His natural body armor is a pale, icy white with a faint blue cast, though it lacks the clean brightness typical of the Cold bloodline. Under certain light, it fades toward a dull beige. The dark segments of his armor, particularly around the joints and lower body, run a deep, inky black that is darker and harsher than those of his Cold Clan cousins. Most striking of all is the exposed skin between the armor plates: a vivid red that shifts from a hot pink in his lesser forms to a deeper, richer crimson in his True Form. The organic polycarbonate that forms the glassy dome of his skull and the orb at the center of his chest shares this coloration, a deep, glossy red like cooling magma trapped under crystal.

In his Restricted Form, Axar is small. Deceptively so. He stands significantly shorter than most species he encounters, with a compact, almost diminutive frame that belies the power compressed within it. The armor plating is thick and rounded, his head capped by a smooth dome of red polycarbonate flanked by a pair of short, stubby horns. His tail trails behind him, and his overall proportions give the impression of something contained and pressurized. It is the form most of the universe sees: a young Changeling bounty hunter of modest stature, easily underestimated, exactly as he prefers.

His Horned Form is a dramatic departure. Where the Restricted Form is compact, the Horned Form is towering. Axar's body expands into a tall, heavily built figure sheathed in thick white armor. A pair of long, sharp black horns sweep outward from his skull crest, and his shoulders widen into broad, pauldron-shaped plates that give him an almost regal silhouette. His face is partially hidden beneath the armored crest of his helm, with only a sharp jaw and a thin, knowing grin visible beneath. The skin between his armor plates takes on a hot pink tone, and his long, dark tail curls lazily behind him. Everything about this form is built to intimidate.

His True Form sheds all the excess. The horns vanish. The armor streamlines. His build becomes leaner and more athletic, trading mass for speed and precision. The skull dome becomes a smooth, rounded cap of polished red-and-black polycarbonate, and his face is fully visible for the first time: sharp red eyes, a confident smirk, and the unmistakable look of someone who has been holding back for a very long time. His skin deepens to a rich, saturated crimson that stands in stark contrast against the clean white armor. He looks faster, meaner, and far more dangerous than his heavier forms ever suggested.

In all of his forms, Axar carries himself with a restrained arrogance: the posture of someone who knows exactly how much power he is choosing not to use. He speaks in a low, measured voice that rarely rises above conversational volume, preferring to let his words land with precision rather than force.

Background:

Not all Changelings are of the Cold Clan. Some hail from lesser-known branches of the species, and Axar is one of those. Born of the Scorch Clan, distinguished by their warm skin tones and fiery temperament, Axar comes from a lineage that the ruling Cold Clan has always regarded with suspicion and disdain. Where the Cold Clan prefers to delegate conquest to subordinate races such as the Saiyans, the Scorch Clan has always held that if something must be taken, you take it yourself. The divide has been building for generations. The Cold Clan views the Scorch Clan as brutish and primitive; the Scorch Clan views the Cold Clan as cowards sitting on a throne they no longer deserve.

Axar was born into this rift, and it burns in him hotter than most. From a young age he demonstrated the natural cunning and ambition common to his people, but beneath the surface he harbored something far more dangerous: power well beyond the norm for a Changeling of his age and station. Rather than announce this strength to the Cold Clan, who would view any Scorch Clan Mutant as a threat to be suppressed or conscripted, Axar put it to work on his own terms. He built a career as a bounty hunter, taking contracts across the galaxy that funded the Scorch Clan's revolutionary operations while letting him test his power against every species the universe had to offer. He doesn't hide what he is. He lets people see exactly as much as serves him, and chooses his moments to show the rest.

It has been productive work. In his young career, Axar has tracked and captured targets across the universe: Kanassans, Konatsians, Humans, and even Saiyans. Some of those he captured were turned over to Scorch Clan cybernetics programs, a longstanding practice among his people who convert the minds and bodies of "lesser" races into obedient cyborg servants as a means of bolstering their numbers without relying on the Cold Clan's military infrastructure. Axar does not consider this cruel. He considers it efficient.

All of this, the bounties, the Zeni, the contacts, the quiet cultivation of revolutionary cells within Changeling society, serves a single purpose. The Cold Clan Emperor sits atop the Changeling hierarchy with a power level that once seemed untouchable, and a political structure designed to keep upstarts like Axar in their place. But thrones built on complacency don't last. He does not seek to free his people. He seeks to rule them. And when the time comes, he will strike the Emperor down himself.

He has recently arrived at the Interstellar Market, the crossroads of the universe, where information flows as freely as trade goods and where a Changeling with the right connections and enough Zeni can find almost anything he needs. The preparations have already begun.
