Character Bio & Approval
Joining Dragon World RPG is a simple process of applying for a certain character, getting it approved, and then beginning to play!

First, you start by reading the content of this board thoroughly before making a decision as to whether or not you want to play! Although Dragon World isn't meant to be time-consuming, it is best experienced over the long-term.

If you still wish to join, start by filling out the Character Bio template as shown and explained below. Include a picture of your character in this post, if you want to display one. Post it in the Character Applications board for open discussion with other players and review by a Game Master. Approval isn't based on some subjective measure of "quality," as Dragon World intends to be open to beginner and advanced writers alike. The primary creator of Dragon World got his start on RP forums such as this and wants to create the same opportunity for others.

Approval instead hinges on two factors: First, your ability to coherently describe your character in the appearance section. While this doesn't need to be detailed or eloquent, it does need to paint a clear picture and be understandable. Second and most importantly is the background section, which will show how much you've read about Dragon World RPG and whether or not you're going to be a good contributor to the game for everyone else. Backgrounds that talk about how your character was born a Super Saiyan 3 do not demonstrate either of those qualities.

After you have filled this out, posted it in the Character Applications board, and gotten approved, the approved version will be posted in Character Bios.

Note! Currently, players are allowed to have one character each per Campaign.

Name: The name of your character. Most names in Dragon Ball are themed, so be sure to read about your intended race!
Race: Your Race, Class Trait, and then Race Traits. All races list their Class Trait by name after the Race. Examples: "Saiyan, Noble: Zenkai, Saiyan Tail" or "Namekian, Warrior: Regeneration, Dragon Ball Affinity, Mystic". Bio-Androids also list their chosen traits, such as, "Bio-Android, Metamorphosis: Zenkai, Saiyan Tail, Mutant". Cyborgs do something similar, such as, "Namekian Cyborg: Antisense, Regeneration, Dragon Ball Affinity, Infinite Energy". Aliens list their species, Class Trait, and three Race Traits, such as, "Xythian, Ambusher: Mimicry, Keen Senses, Regenerative"
Alignment: Good, Evil, or Neutral. This determines where your character goes in the Afterlife and what options are available to them there! This can change over time, but only with good reason.
Age: Your character's age in years.
Appearance: Give a description of your character's physical appearance. Focus primarily on what doesn't change about them, to save yourself from writing about your Saiyan's black hair in every roleplay post you make. If you want to get particularly detailed, you can share what they sound like, mannerisms, and how they carry themselves.
Background: Tell us about your character's past and where they came from. This can include family and major events. In particular, tell us what has happened to cause them to begin what will become their adventure throughout our Dragon World. For characters joining later into the Campaign, it is also especially important to give us a background that explains their heightened level of power; doubly so if you're starting when players are already at Super Saiyan levels and beyond!

Character Sheet
After you have filled this out, posted it in the Character Applications board, and gotten approved, you'll be setup with your private Character Sheet. This will be a thread on the forum within the private Character Sheets board, where only the thread creator (you) and Game Masters can see it. This is where your private stats will be kept, as well as where you'll perform various activities. It will then be reviewed by a Game Master and validated.

You begin with:
  • 1,000 EXP
  • 5 Techniques (Defense, Utility, Signature, or Finisher) at no EXP cost, but they still consume a Technique Slot. A simple Signature Technique with Damaging and Extra Damaging is strongly recommended as one of those Techniques!
  • 7,000z to spend on starting expenses or on items purchased at Interstellar Market rates!
  • Space Pod with Basic Engines. Starting Zeni or Zeni earned through Working via the starting EXP can also be used to upgrade this further! It is strongly recommended to keep this to enable immediate travel throughout the living Universe, but it can be converted into 3,000z.
This starting EXP can be used, without any cost in time (Quarters), on the following Activities: Training, Learn Techniques, and Working for Zeni which may be spent on items (also at Interstellar Market rates). Starting EXP may utilize items you buy (except Special Contracts) with the Zeni that you start with or acquire from Working, and you may use/benefit from any features of your starting location when spending it. You cannot benefit from the aid of other characters.

At the start of a Campaign, characters will begin at a Power Level of 1,000 unless told otherwise. Deeper into a Campaign, new characters will be given Power Levels based on where the player-characters are currently at. They may be given other resources, too. This ensures that all newly-joined characters can be relevant immediately!

Location: Your starting location.
EXP: 0 remaining (1,000 earned / 0 spent). Update the earned, spent, and remaining values as you go!
Bonus EXP: 0 remaining (0 earned / 0 spent).

Power Level: Your starting Power Level, given to you privately after character approval. If this is the start of a new Campaign, this will be 1,000 PL.
HP: Your starting HP. (100 base + Constitution)
Ki: Your starting Ki. (100 base + Ki Control) If you have God Ki, rename this to God Ki.
Attack: Your starting Attack. Show the math, such as: 6 (Combat A +6). Other sources include items like Scouters (+1 Attack)
Defense: Your starting Defense. Show the math, such as: 14 (8 base + Mobility A +6). Other sources include items like Fighting Uniforms (+2 Defense)

Race Traits & Class
  • Class Trait: Your chosen Class Trait, such as "Noble" or "Warrior". Include a brief note of its mechanical effect.
  • Race Trait: First Race Trait and its effect.
  • Race Trait: Second Race Trait and its effect.
  • Race Trait: Third Race Trait and its effect, if your race has three.

Skills (Skill Points: 20/20) Update both numbers as you spend and earn Skill Points! The left number is how many you've spent and the right number is your total available. Rename skills after their evolved counterparts, such as Intelligence potentially becoming Wisdom.
  • Combat: Your rank in this skill, from None to Z.
  • Mobility: Your rank in this skill, from None to Z.
  • Ki Control: Your rank in this skill, from None to Z.
  • Constitution: Your rank in this skill, from None to Z.
  • Intelligence: Your rank in this skill, from None to Z.
Evolved Skills: None yet. When a skill is evolved via Special Quest, note it here, such as: "Combat → Martial Arts" or "Intelligence → Wisdom". List the original and new name.

Balanced Skills Bonuses When ALL of your skills reach a minimum rank, you unlock the bonus for that rank. List only the bonuses you currently qualify for.
  • F Rank: Once per battle, reroll one of your own d20 Attack Rolls. You must use the new result.
  • E Rank: Once per battle, at the start of your turn, increase your Defense by 4 for that turn. No Action, Ki, or Reaction cost.
  • D Rank: The first time you drop below 50% HP in a battle, restore 15 Ki and gain +2 to all Attack Rolls until the end of your next turn.
  • C Rank: When you land a Critical Hit, deal an additional +4 Damage and restore 5 Ki.
  • B Rank: Once per battle, when you successfully hit an opponent, immediately use a Single-Target Finisher Technique at no Action cost, no Ki cost, and without counting against your limited Finisher Techniques per battle.
  • A Rank: Once per battle, set the damage of a Finisher Technique to maximum on all die (not those applied by external effects such as Charge Attack) and automatically apply Status Effects unless the target is explicitly immune. Cannot apply to Techniques with the Overwhelming Main Effect.

Transformations
  • Your starter Transformation, if you have one!
  • List each unlocked Transformation with its tier tag, such as "Super Saiyan [T-S1]"
  • List each developed variation as a separate entry with its traits, such as "Mastered Super Saiyan [T-S1]" or "Mastered Super Saiyan: Attuned [T-S1]"
  • Remember: variations are separate forms, not replacements. You can still use the trait-free version!

Technique List: 0/?? (Slotted) Replace the ?? with the number of Technique Slots you possess and show the math, such as: 0/15 (7 base + Intelligence Z +8). Certain items can also add additional slots.
  • Do not list the Fundamental Techniques!
  • While you begin with Technique Slots you also begin with a number of free Techniques to fill some of those slots with, and the numbers are rarely the same.

Techniques (No Slot Cost)
  • List any techniques granted without a Technique Slot cost by Race Traits, Class Traits, Special Quests, or other sources. Note the source in parentheses.
  • Examples: "Regeneration (Race Trait: Regeneration)", "Flight (Class Trait: Exile)", "Heal (Class Trait: Attendant)", "Ki Shield, Aura Barrier (Grand Kaio's Training)"
  • If you have none, you may leave this section empty or write "None".

Signature & Finisher Techniques
Paste your Signature and Finisher Technique details in here!

Items & Zeni
  • Zeni: Your starting Zeni goes here!
  • Put starting items below!

Status & Notes
  • Saiyan Tail: Present / Severed / Removed (Saiyans only, delete or replace this line if not applicable)
  • Alive/Dead: Alive
  • Mortal Special Quest Cooldown: Can begin another at the start of QX, Age Y.
  • Afterlife Special Quest Cooldown: Can begin another at the start of QX, Age Y.
  • Any other persistent status flags or notes relevant to your character.

Alien Race Template
If you're creating a character using the Alien custom race, you'll need to define your species before filling out your Character Bio. Since Aliens aren't a canon race from Dragon Ball, you'll want to put extra care into describing your species — what they look like, where they come from, how they behave, and what makes them unique. This doesn't have to be a novel, but it should give other players and the Game Master(s) a clear picture of the people your character comes from.

You'll also need to name and describe each of your Transformations. Other players may create characters of your species in the future, so your Transformation names and descriptions will become the standard for the race going forward. Think of these the way "Super Saiyan" is to Saiyans — they should feel iconic to your species.

Fill out the Race Design below first and submit it for approval with your Character Bio, and after approval go fill out the Character Sheet templates above as normal. Your Race line on the Character Bio should list your species name, your chosen Class Trait, and your three Race Traits, such as: "Xythian, Ambusher: Mimicry, Keen Senses, Regenerative"

Code:
[SIZE=5][B]Alien Race Design[/B][/SIZE]

[B]Species Name:[/B] The name of your species. This will be used by anyone who plays a character of this race in the future.
[B]Name Theme:[/B] What naming convention does your species follow? Most Dragon Ball races have pun-based names (Saiyans are vegetables, Humans are clothing, etc.). Establish one here so future characters of your species can follow it.
[B]Homeworld:[/B] Where does your species come from? This can be an existing planet in Dragon World or a new one (subject to Game Master approval). Give a brief description of the world: its climate, terrain, and what life is like there.
[B]Typical Alignment:[/B] Good, Evil, or Neutral. What is your species generally like?
[B]Average Power Level:[/B] Give an approximate average for your species' Ki-wielding fighters. Use the existing races as a reference (Humans: 200, Namekians: 500, Saiyans: 2,000).

[B][U]Species Description[/U][/B]
Describe your species in detail. What do they look like physically? What are their defining cultural traits, values, or behaviors? How do they fit into the wider universe — are they known to others, or obscure? What roles do they typically fill (warriors, traders, scholars, outcasts)? Are there any notable biological traits such as unusual lifespans, environmental adaptations, or physical features?

This section is important because your species may be played by others. Give them enough to work with.

[B][U]Race Traits (Choose Three)[/U][/B]
Select three Race Traits from the Alien trait list in Races & Transformations. List them here.
[LIST]
[*][B]Trait 1:[/B] Name of trait.
[*][B]Trait 2:[/B] Name of trait.
[*][B]Trait 3:[/B] Name of trait.
[/LIST]

[B][U]Class Traits (Choose Three for the Race)[/U][/B]
Select three Class Traits from the Alien class list. These become the available classes for all characters of this species. Each individual character will pick one, as usual.
[LIST]
[*][B]Class 1:[/B] Name of class.
[*][B]Class 2:[/B] Name of class.
[*][B]Class 3:[/B] Name of class.
[/LIST]

[B][U]Transformation Path[/U][/B]
Choose one Transformation Path (A through F) from the Alien section in Races & Transformations.

[B]Path:[/B] Letter and tier list (e.g., "Path C: P-N1, P-N3, P-S1, P-S2, T-S3")

Now, name and describe each form. These names and descriptions will be used by all future characters of your species, so make them feel like they belong to your people. You have creative freedom here; the only requirement is that someone reading these can picture what the transformation looks like and understand what it represents for your species.
[LIST]
[*][B]Form 1 Name:[/B] [Tier, e.g. P-N1] — Describe what happens when this form is achieved. What does it look like? What changes physically, visually, or in the character's demeanor?
[*][B]Form 2 Name:[/B] [Tier] — Description.
[*][B]Form 3 Name:[/B] [Tier] — Description.
[*](Continue for each form in your chosen path.)
[/LIST]
